About Katherine

Kate 2015

Hi!  My name is Kate McFetridge.  Thank you for taking the time to visit my page!  I started rowing in 2007 when I walked on to USC’s rowing team.  After graduating college, I knew I wanted to pursue rowing at the Olympic level, and I decided to delay pursuing medical school.  This decision has taken me on an incredible journey over the years.

After taking a year to develop as a sculler in 2012, I became a personal trainer at the Sporting Club at the Bellevue.  Through this job, I met many of my best friends in the Philadelphia area.  While working as a swim instructor at the club in the summer of 2014, I met a great friend and mentor who took me under her wing as an intern in her clinical psychology practice.  Through this internship I was able to learn more about cognitive behavioral therapy and its relation to nutrition and weight loss.  This position inspired me to become a health and wellness coach.  In the fall of 2015, I started a health coaching/performance consulting business called Kaizen Health Methods.  This business has given me the freedom to design my work schedule around my training, as well as work in the field that I love most– helping individuals with their fitness and health.

My hobbies include horseback riding, and I have begun dabbling with painting, sewing, and drawing for fun.  One of the biggest things that I am beginning to see over my years of rowing is that the best way to maintain my competitive edge is actually to lead a well balanced and grounded life.  This is when I am at my strongest and fastest.

Please feel free to contact me any time to learn more about the rowing life!  Thanks again for your support!
